Join Us in Nursery

Choosing a nursery is about much more than finding childcare. It is about finding a place where your child can develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

At Springfield Nursery, children spend their days exploring, creating, building friendships and discovering the world around them. Our Nursery offers a warm, nurturing environment where every child is known as an individual and encouraged to develop confidence, independence and curiosity.

What makes Springfield special is the space and freedom children have to explore. Nursery children enjoy daily access to our beautiful grounds and spend a half day each week with our Level 3 qualified Forest School teacher. Whether they are building, creating, investigating, climbing, storytelling or making new friends, children are developing the skills that will help them thrive throughout school and beyond.

We keep our Nursery classes small, with around 16 children in each class at any one time, allowing staff to build strong relationships with every child and family. We also provide healthy school lunches, high-quality indoor and outdoor learning opportunities and a smooth transition into Reception.

Families can access 15-hour and 30-hour funded places, as well as additional paid sessions where available.

Apply

Nursery places are managed by the school internally. We encourage all families interested in Springfield to apply, as applications can be made from birth and held on our waiting list until the term after your child turns three and are eligible to start Nursery.

FAQs

Do you offer funded Nursery places?

Yes. We offer both 15-hour and 30-hour funded Nursery places for eligible children, alongside additional paid sessions where available.

What age can my child start Nursery?

Children can join Springfield Nursery from the term after their third birthday. Please contact the school office for details of upcoming admissions rounds.

What makes Springfield Nursery different?

Children benefit from daily access to extensive outdoor spaces, weekly Forest School sessions, small class sizes, experienced staff and a nurturing environment that balances play, exploration and early learning.

Does attending Springfield Nursery guarantee a Reception place?

Attendance at Springfield Nursery does not automatically guarantee a Reception place, as Reception admissions are managed through the local authority admissions process. However, many of our Nursery children successfully move on to Reception at Springfield.

Do you provide meals?

Yes. Nursery children can enjoy healthy school lunches as part of their day.

Can I visit before applying?

Absolutely. We encourage all prospective families to book a tour and see the Nursery in action. Tours can be booked via this Google Form.
