Applications for Reception are made through Hackney’s coordinated admissions process. Details and deadlines can be found through Hackney Education.
What if Springfield is oversubscribed?
We encourage families to apply even if places are limited. Waiting lists move regularly and places can become available throughout the admissions process.
How do children learn to read at Springfield?
Children begin learning through the Read Write Inc. phonics programme in Reception. Reading is central to school life, and children are supported to become confident, fluent readers.
What outdoor learning opportunities are available?
Reception children enjoy regular access to our extensive outdoor spaces and spend a half day each week participating in Forest School sessions.
Do you offer wraparound care?
Yes. We offer a free breakfast club from 7.45am (from September 2026) and childcare until 6pm each day, alongside a range of enrichment clubs that change termly.
How do you help children settle into school?
We work closely with families and previous settings to ensure a smooth transition. Children visit before starting and staff take time to get to know each child individually.
